Lahore: The Punjab government has launched a major environmental protection initiative under the Clean & Green Punjab campaign, aiming to install 100 advanced air quality monitoring stations across the province.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, while addressing the media on Sunday, announced that 30 air quality monitors had already been installed at a cost of billions of rupees. Another 30 monitors will be operational by March 31, significantly improving Punjab’s air pollution tracking capacity, which previously relied on only three monitoring stations.

“To enhance strict monitoring, five mobile and eight fixed monitoring stations have been set up in Lahore, linked to a satellite-based automated system that will provide hourly air quality data,” she said.
The initiative is being expanded to major cities, including Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala, where real-time environmental data will help authorities take swift action against pollution.
Fixed monitoring stations will also identify pollution hotspots in industrial and urban areas, allowing for better regulation of emissions and more effective pollution control measures.
