Construction of Karachi-Sukkur Motorway to kick off in 2025

Islamabad: The long-awaited Karachi-Sukkur Motorway project is set to begin construction this year, as announced by Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization, and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan. The minister has directed relevant authorities to take immediate steps to initiate work on this vital infrastructure project. In a high-level departmental meeting, Minister Aleem Khan emphasized the strategic importance of the Karachi-Sukkur Motorway in enhancing the country’s transportation network and boosting economic development. He stated that the Sindh government will also be invited to collaborate on the construction, ensuring a comprehensive approach to its development. Read: First phase of 40km Malir Expressway to open on Jan 11 The motorway will originate from Karachi Port and seamlessly connect with the existing Sukkur Motorway, completing the North-South Motorway network across Pakistan. The project is expected to be executed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. However, if private sector participation is not secured, the government is prepared to bear the full cost to ensure its timely execution.
