| Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah conducted a surprise morning inspection of the Malir Expressway’s 9-km stretch, urging swift completion by December 30 to make it operational for traffic. The news has been sourced from an article on December 23.

According to the details, the inspected section connects Jam Sadiq Bridge with Shah Faisal Interchange. During the visit, CM Shah directed officials to expedite construction, clear encroachments, and remove unauthorised parking along the route, particularly near the Shah Faisal Interchange and Karachi Airport. The expressway, designed to reduce travel time between Jam Sadiq Bridge and Jinnah Terminal to just 15 minutes, will be reserved for vehicles, excluding motorcycles and rickshaws.
The project is envisioned as a critical corridor linking Shah Faisal, Karachi Airport, Shahrah-e-Faisal, the National Highway, and further to Link Road and Thatta. Security checkpoints will regulate traffic and ensure safety.
Shah emphasized the importance of completing the expressway’s first phase to benefit commuters and cargo transport, with plans to accelerate work on the remaining section extending to Kathore. He instructed officials to install road lighting along the expressway and announced a follow-up inspection at night.
