1,000-kanal flower nursery set to transform Rawalpindi’s green spaces

Rawalpindi: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has completed the development of Punjab’s largest flower nursery, spanning 1,000 kanals in Gorakhpur near Adiala Road. This state-of-the-art nursery is designed to produce a wide variety of spring flowers, sourced both locally and internationally, with preparations underway for the upcoming spring season. By the first week of February next year, the nursery will have a fresh batch of spring flowers ready to be planted across Rawalpindi. These flowers will beautify 44 parks, roadsides, gardens, and orchards throughout the city. This initiative has been completed, adding to the city’s vibrant green spaces. PHA Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha recently visited the Gorakhpur nursery to inspect the flowers and plants being cultivated. He highlighted that in addition to flowers for public parks, the nursery will supply a variety of decorative plants for home gardens. These plants will be offered to citizens at affordable prices, ensuring access to quality greenery for residential areas. Ranjha also confirmed the completion of the beautification work at Allama Iqbal Park and Shahbaz Sharif Park, with various types of flowers already planted. The PHA plans to introduce additional flowers for the upcoming spring tree-planting campaign. Additionally, flowers will be planted along green belts and roadsides throughout the city. This initiative is part of PHA’s broader efforts to improve the aesthetic appeal of Rawalpindi, providing citizens with more green spaces and contributing to the city’s environmental sustainability.
