| LAHORE: In a significant move to combat Lahore’s escalating smog crisis, the Central Business District (CBD) Punjab has temporarily suspended all construction activities across its projects. The decision aligns with directives from the Lahore High Court and the Punjab government, aimed at improving air quality and safeguarding public health.

CBD Punjab Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Imran Amin emphasized the authority’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges. “As an environmentally conscious authority, we fully support the Punjab government’s robust measures to combat smog. Halting construction is a necessary step to reduce pollution and foster a healthier environment for Lahore’s residents,” he said.

The temporary suspension reflects CBD Punjab’s dedication to sustainable urban development. Beyond halting construction, the authority has launched a plantation drive to increase Lahore’s green cover and is encouraging citizens, businesses, and organizations to adopt environmentally responsible practices. These include reducing vehicle use, opting for eco-friendly construction methods, and avoiding waste burning.

Despite the halt, CBD Punjab’s key projects are progressing. The Walton Road upgradation has completed asphalt work, while the Major Ishaq Shaheed Flyover is set to open for traffic soon.
