| Lahore: In an extensive operation against illegal commercial activities and properties defaulting on commercial fees, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 373 properties across the city on Monday. The enforcement drive, initiated under the directives of Director General (DG) Tahir Farooq, was led by Chief Town Planner I Asad Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali, with support from the LDA enforcement squad and police.

The LDA teams carried out the operation across several key areas, including Gulberg, Garden Town, Wahdat Road, Johar Town, Wapda Town, Quaid-e-Azam Town, Canal Road, Poonch Road, and Samanabad. The properties sealed comprised a wide range of establishments such as schools, clinics, pharmacies, wedding halls, beauty salons, real estate offices, and cash-and-carry stores. Prior notices were reportedly issued to these establishments, warning them of potential action for non-compliance.

In a parallel anti-encroachment effort, DG Tahir Farooq inspected Sabzazar Scheme, particularly areas near Babu Sabu and Ring Road, where LDA-owned properties had faced encroachments. The LDA cleared over 100 kanals of land across several blocks in Sabzazar and installed fencing and boards to mark the reclaimed areas. DG Farooq directed the removal of encroachments around LDA and WASA-owned properties, including drainage areas near Babu Sabu. |
