Punjab Safe City project launched in Sheikhupura

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Safe City Project in Sheikhupura, with similar projects planned for launch in four additional major cities across the province next week, as reported on October 25. Read: Punjab approves setting up authorities for development, sanitation, horticulture As per details, the inauguration in Sheikhupura, CM Maryam reviewed the Safe City video wall and assessed the advanced communication equipment, which includes body cameras, rugged smartphones, and other high-tech devices. She also observed the monitoring operations within the Safe City control room. The project in Sheikhupura includes 273 cameras placed at 52 strategic locations. These cameras will enable automatic e-challans for traffic violations and monitor the Air Quality Index. A Facial Recognition System will support tracking and identification of criminals, and panic buttons have been installed at ten locations throughout the city. Additionally, free Wi-Fi is accessible at 15 sites. CM Maryam was also briefed on the construction and extension of the Sheikhupura-Sargodha Road.
