As per details, this decision comes following numerous appeals from trade bodies, tax bar associations, and the general public. As per Income Tax Circular No. 2 of 2024, issued late Monday night, the extension has been granted under the authority of Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001. It applies to individuals and entities required to submit their returns by the original deadline of September 30, 2024.
The FBR’s move is aimed at providing relief to taxpayers and ensuring that everyone can meet their obligations without facing unnecessary pressure. This extension reflects the board’s responsiveness to public concerns and efforts to promote smoother tax compliance.
