Karachi: The Akhiro-1 well in Khairpur district, Sindh, is set to produce approximately 10 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) following a significant discovery in the Lower Gour B Reservoir by the Sawan South Joint Venture. The news was reported on September 26 by an official news source. Drilling for the well commenced on June 15, 2024, and has successfully reached a depth of 12,442 feet. OGDCL reported that the well was tested at an impressive rate of approximately 10 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas, utilizing a choke size of 24/64 inches and achieving a Wellhead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 4,000 pounds per square inch (psi).
