CDA to oversee Islamabad Model Jail project as PWD transfers control

slamabad: The Capital Development and Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa chaired a meeting to review the office transfer from PWD to CDA and the timely construction of the Islamabad Model Jail, as reported on September 18. Read: CDA launches Islamabad’s first Digital Parking System As per details, discussions focused on ensuring a smooth transition of the Islamabad Model Jail project from (Public Works Department) PWD to CDA, with the goal of designating CDA as the primary executing agency in consultation with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Initiatives. Chairman Randhawa emphasised that until the transition is fully completed, the PWD must work in close collaboration with the CDA to ensure uninterrupted progress. He highlighted the importance of efficient coordination to avoid delays and ensure that the project’s momentum is maintained. Randhawa reiterated the urgency of finishing Phase-I of the project by the set deadline. This phase includes the construction of key infrastructure components, such as the boundary wall, barracks, administrative block, roads, and watchtowers. The CDA Chairman underlined the importance of adhering to timelines and instructed all involved parties to prioritise the completion of these critical components to keep the project on track.
