PoS fee collection soars to PKR 660 mn in FY23, FBR announces

Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an increase in Point-of-Sale (PoS) service fee collections, reaching PKR 660 million for the fiscal year 2023. Read: FBR to hike property valuation rates by up to 100% in 42 cities According to sources, the Finance Ministry’s statement to the National Assembly on Monday revealed that the FBR charges PKR 1 per sale invoice issued by tier-1 retailers. The total PoS fee collection for FY23 stood at PKR 660 million, compared to PKR 240 million in FY22, reflecting a significant increase in revenue from this source. The collected fees are used to support the welfare of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officials, as well as the PoS prize scheme and media campaigns. However, the FBR added that the PoS prize scheme has been suspended for several months.
