Sindh Govt approves KHI Expressway, major afforestation

Karachi: The Sindh government has greenlit several key infrastructure projects, including a new expressway in Karachi, following a major afforestation campaign, as claimed in a news article on September 2. Read: Sindh Coastal Highway, Dadu Canal Projects receive major funding During the 45th Public Private Partnership Policy (PPPP) Board meeting, the government approved the construction of a new expressway connecting Karachi Port Terminal to Jam Sadiq Bridge, intended to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity. The Maripur Expressway and ICI Interchange project were also approved, addressing chronic traffic issues in the area. Furthermore, a major afforestation campaign was approved, targeting 34,995 acres in Jamshoro and Matiari districts, along with reforestation efforts across 88,022 hectares in various riverine areas. This initiative aims to boost forest cover and improve climate resilience in the region. This project is strategically located near major ports and motorways, making it appealing to investors.
