Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a development project to improve road infrastructure in Lahore, news sources reported on April 7. The PKR 6 billion project was approved during the review meeting of Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
The initiative aims to enhance the city’s road infrastructure and provide additional facilities for its residents, including designated waiting areas for pedestrians, dedicated bicycle lanes, and a central recreational space. Moreover, provisions will be made for wheel carts and stalls. Chairing the meeting, the CM approved the Pilot Development Project in LDA Avenue 1.

In a bid to streamline processes and improve efficiency, amendments to existing LDA regulations were also proposed. Additionally, plans were set in motion to establish a specialized enforcement unit and an exclusive LDA police station to uphold law and order within the authority’s jurisdiction.
Deliberations also centered on the potential commercialization of select roads in Lahore, which is expected to generate revenue worth PKR 20 billion. Furthermore, efforts to improve citizen services were underscored, including the provision of standardized housing maps and expedited approval processes for construction projects. |
