Rawalpindi:The anti-encroachment inspectors have been allegedly violating the directives of the Station Commander and Cantonment Executive Officer to remove all kinds of encroachments from Jhanda Chichi and Adiala Road. The anti-encroachment inspectors deployed here at Jhanda Chichi and Adiala Road were allegedly demanding ‘bribes’ from shopkeepers to set up stalls illegally on roadsides. The business community of Jhanda and Adiala Road have protested against the anti-encroachment inspectors of Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) and appealed to the higher authorities to take strict action against them immediately threatening to block roads for an indefinite period. Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) Anti-Encroachment Department (In-Charge) Muhammad Faisal told ‘The News’ that they were continuously removing encroachments from roadsides and bazaars. “We have not only removed encroachment mafia but also imposed fines against them,” he claimed. He has admitted that the Station Commander and Cantonment Executive Officer have ordered to removal of all kinds of encroachments from all areas. He has denied all allegations of taking a ‘bribe’. Encroachment is rife in several areas of Chaklala Cantonment Board while the staff of the Anti-Encroachment Department of Chaklala Cantonment Board is protecting encroachers. Illegal business activities on roadsides and footpaths have disturbed the routine flow of traffic in all areas, particularly in Jhanda Chichi, Adiala Road, Lalkurti, 22 Number Chungi, Tipu Road, and Chaklala Scheme-III. The Station Commander and Cantonment Executive Officer have issued directives several times to finish the encroachment mafia, however, it has not ended properly.
