CM lays foundation for Walton Road Flyover project

Lahore: Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi laid the foundation of the Major Muhammad Ishaq Shaheed Flyover Project at Walton Road, as per the news published on January 18. Read: Progress shared on CBD Punjab Boulevard, Walton Project As per the details, the 750-meter long Walton Road flyover project will feature two lanes and will transform the Walton Road into a signal-free corridor. CM directed to complete the project within a 120-day timeframe while emphasizing its significance in honouring the sacrifices of national heroes, particularly Major Muhammad Ishaq Shaheed. The news source mentioned that originally, it was budgeted for two protected U-turns at PKR 1.20 billion. However, the revised plan to construct the flyover at PKR 1 billion was made possible through collaborative efforts by Central Business District (CBD) Punjab, National Logistics Corporation (NLC), and NESPAK, resulting in savings of PKR 200 million. The CM underlined that the flyover would play a pivotal role in alleviating traffic issues and improving the overall infrastructure of the area. A bridge is underway to enhance traffic flow from Gulberg to Walton, expected to be completed by February 15. Simultaneously, a drainage project costing PKR 9 billion in CBD is addressing residential areas’ drainage concerns in Walton, DHA, and Cantonment.
