‘Gwadar Intl’ Airport set to open in August 2024′

Islamabad: The much-anticipated Gwadar International Airport is poised to initiate flight operations in August 2024, with a substantial investment totalling PKR 51 billion, according to news published on December 30. Read: Gwadar International Airport’s inauguration expected soon The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson, whose name was not disclosed, confirmed this development, revealing that the investment includes a significant Chinese grant amounting to PKR 34 billion. The news follows a major project in 2023, involving the reconstruction and upgrade of the main runway at Allama Iqbal International Airport, valued at PKR 18.5 billion, facilitating the use of Category F aircraft. In the upcoming year, the CAA is set to embark on various initiatives, each contributing to the growth and modernization of aviation infrastructure across the country: Construction of Muridke Aerodrome and relocation of existing Walton Aerodrome after its completion on March 2024 Construction of a multi-storeyed car parking facility for Bacha Khan International Airport Upgradation of existing taxiways at Multan Airport (Charlie and Alpha) Construction of Apron H lights and Apron floodlights tower Improvements of the outer and inner roads of Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport to alleviate congestion and enhance passenger movement.
