Gwadar: The Pak-China Friendship Hospital’s recent inauguration in Gwadar stands as a pivotal moment for the region’s healthcare sector, representing a collaborative effort under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as claimed by a news source on December 20. Read: Thar Coal-fired Power Project sets new milestone in CPEC framework According to the news source, the Pak-China Economic Corridor Centre of Excellence Socio-Economic Development Specialist Adnan Khan shed light on upcoming CPEC projects, specifically the transformative Green Corridor, Digital Corridor, and Health Corridor. These endeavours aim to usher in a new era of development in Pakistan, with a primary objective of modernising the nation’s healthcare infrastructure. Having commenced operations on December 4, the hospital, funded with a total of USD 100 million by the Chinese government, symbolises the resilient bilateral ties between China and Pakistan. Encompassing 68 acres, the 300-bed hospital was developed as part of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Business Plan. Specialist Khan elaborates on the hospital’s six blocks, encompassing medical, residential, nursing, paramedical institute, medical college, and central laboratory, each outfitted with modern facilities, equipment, and machinery, exemplifying a holistic healthcare approach. Furthermore, Specialist Khan stresses that the hospital will significantly diminish the need for residents to travel extended distances for specialised medical treatments. The comprehensive suite of services, spanning primary care to specialized treatments, is expected to bring about a substantial improvement in the overall health outcomes of the region.
