According to the details, the FBR has commenced the issuance of notices to individuals who have not filed their income tax returns, including those who have never done so but are legally obliged to. Under the newly implemented Section 114B of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, non-compliance with income tax regulations will lead to the disconnection of vital utility services. Individuals who fail to file their income tax returns risk losing access to electricity, gas, and mobile phone/SIM services. This ground-breaking measure aims to create a direct link between tax compliance and the provision of essential services.
To facilitate the filing process, the FBR has shared the QR scan code to scan and file, streamlining the submission of income tax returns. Taxpayers are encouraged to utilise this innovative approach to comply with tax regulations efficiently.
