Kohat: Kohat City Mayor Qari Sher Zaman has recently demanded an explanation from the officials regarding the failure to restore Hangu and Bannu roads, along with Kutchery Chowk Road, as per the surfaced details on November 5. Read: KPK to construct three new highways, repair old roads According to the source, the meeting was prompted by the prolonged delay in the restoration of roads, which had been dug up for laying pipelines, causing significant inconvenience to both motorists and pedestrians in the city. Mayor Zaman highlighted that the Communication and Works (C&W) department had received a substantial sum of PKR 30 million from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited for the purpose of recarpeting the city roads. He urged the relevant officials to rectify the situation promptly or face necessary consequences. However, he explained that due to the extensive digging carried out by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, the estimated repair costs had escalated. The gas department had only reimbursed them for filling the excavated areas with earth, leaving a shortfall of PKR 50 million for the comprehensive repair work required.
