Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the first time will introduce bar codes on the files of land-affected individuals in Kuri Model Village to prevent fraudulent allotments, a news source reported on November 4.

The news source mentioned that the civic agency is gearing up to kickstart development activities in the long-stalled Kuri Model Village. This action by the CDA follows a directive from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in September of this year, instructing them to initiate development work within one month. A team led by Member Estate Tariq Salam, along with Deputy Director General of Planning (DDG) Arshad Chohan, DDG Enforcement Shah Jahan, Deputy Commissioner Sardar Asif, and others, conducted a site visit to identify cases of built-up property.
The CDA is now set to submit a report to the IHC, detailing the measures taken to expedite the issuance of allotment letters and the commencement of development work. It was mentioned that the CDA had acquired land for the development of the model village several decades ago, but after announcing the land award, little progress was made towards its development. The model village is planned to be established on over 3,200 acres across Kuri, Majohan, and Rehara revenue estates, falling under Zone IV.

Furthermore, the CDA management has decided to execute the development work in phases, with the initial phase focusing on the revenue estate of Kuri, which encompasses four proposed blocks (A to D). Meanwhile, CDA Chairman Anwarul Haq has instructed the relevant department to reduce the role of intermediaries, such as property dealers, and initiate the process of affixing bar codes on plot files. He emphasized the need for transparent issuance of allotment letters to all 2,700 affected individuals. |
