BRI: Landmark agreements, initiatives signed to enhance collaboration

Lahore: Pakistan and China have signed 20 agreements and Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) during the 3rd Belt and Road Forum covering various aspects of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), according to news published on October 30. Read: CPEC to be developed as model green belt and road initiative As per the details, Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren has commended the recent 3rd Belt and Road Forum for reinvigorating the high-quality collaboration between Pakistan and China. Both nations have reaffirmed their commitment to expedite the development of the Gwadar Port and the upgrade of the ML-1 railway line. During the seminar, he highlighted the significant achievements of the forum, which included the signing of 20 agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) agreements encompassed cooperation in infrastructure, mining, industry, green and low-carbon development, health, space cooperation, digital development, and agricultural exports to China. The diplomat emphasized key outcomes from the forum, such as the establishment of initiatives like the Beijing Initiative for Deepening Cooperation on Connectivity, Belt and Road Green Development, International Digital Economy Cooperation, the Green Investment and Finance Partnership, and High-Level Principles on Corruption-free Belt and Road Building. Commercial agreements worth USD 97.2 billion were finalized during the BRF CEO Conference, with expectations that these agreements will generate employment and foster economic growth within the Belt and Road Initiative countries.
