Islamabad: Caretaker Planning and Development (P&D) Minister Muhammad Sami Saeed has called upon provincial governments and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to promptly submit their respective master plans with recommendations on regulating agricultural land conversion to housing schemes, according to a news story published on September 21.

As per the details, the minister issued the directives while chairing a committee meeting aimed at ‘Building Consensus for Regulating the Conversion of Agricultural Land to Housing Societies in Pakistan’. The purpose of the committee is to effectively regulate the conversion of agricultural land into housing societies across Pakistan.
During the meeting, representatives from provinces and the ICT briefed the minister about the existence of their respective master plans, the legal frameworks governing land conversion, and the mechanisms in place for enforcing these laws. The minister stressed the significance of addressing the issues related to master plans, legal frameworks, and their effective implementation as essential steps in this regulatory process.
