Monthly House Tax imposed in 16 tehsils of Punjab

Lahore: The Punjab government has imposed a monthly house tax of PKR 695 per household in 16 tehsils to address water supply, sanitation, and waste management issues, according to news published in the leading newspaper on August 2. Read: Citizens rush to become tax filers amidst soaring electricity bills As per the details, the tax will be applicable to people living in 16 tehsils including Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Chakwal, Pakpattan, Chiniot, Jhang, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, DG Khan, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, and Multan. It was mentioned that around 2,000 villages across Punjab will be subjected to the monthly house tax. Moreover, to ensure efficient and reliable services to the citizens, the responsibility for water supply and waste management has been delegated to a municipal company by the caretaker government. This partnership is pivotal to the success of these initiatives, making tax collection a crucial element of the funding mechanism.
