GHDA shares insights on tourism efforts in Gorakh Hills-Dadu

Karachi: Gorakh Hills Development Authority (GHDA) Chairman Rafiq Ahmed Jamali has provided comprehensive insights into the ongoing development endeavours at Gorakh Hills-Dadu, aimed at enhancing the tourism experience while prioritizing safety, according to news published on August 24. Read: Swat Development Authority to set up new tourist site in Kalam In a recent statement, the GHDA Chairman detailed the remarkable progress made over the past nine years, with an impressive investment of PKR 3 billion allocated to the authority for a spectrum of development projects. These initiatives encompass a wide range of amenities and infrastructure, designed to create a welcoming environment for visitors. Key initiatives include the establishment of vital infrastructure elements such as road networks, rest houses, family resorts, tourist hostels, restaurants, mosques, dispensaries, and recreational facilities. These additions collectively work to elevate the overall experience for tourists. A pivotal accomplishment in the region is the construction of a 35-kilometre road from Wahi Pandhi Town, an investment of PKR 1,000 million. This strategic road not only enhances accessibility but also significantly contributes to the safety of travel for tourists. To further enrich the tourist experience, interconnected roads have been developed between different viewpoints, facilitating seamless movement across the area. Accommodation options have been thoughtfully designed, featuring six furnished duplex family resorts, an 8-room tourist hostel, a PD rest house, a fibreglass rest house, and well-appointed huts. These accommodations come with supplementary amenities, including mosques, event spaces, restaurants, tuck shops, cricket grounds, and children’s play areas. Additionally, a dispensary is operational in the vicinity, catering to medical needs and staffed with medical professionals. Water supply consistency across elevations ranging from 5,000 to 6,000 feet has been secured with the construction of eight reservoir tanks and related pumping stations. Chairman Jamali reiterated his commitment to transforming Gorakh Hill Station into a premier tourist destination in Pakistan, particularly for the people of Sindh. These continuous efforts are poised to create a remarkable and safe tourism hub that offers both relaxation and adventure amidst breathtaking natural beauty.
