Inauguration of Phase-I of Rashakai Economic Zone

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mohammad Azam Khan inaugurated Phase I of the Rashakai Special Economic Zone (SEZ), signifying a major achievement in the advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to news published in the national dailies on July 22. Read: Rashakai SEZ to be made operational next month The inauguration ceremony was attended by Federal Board of Investment Secretary, Provincial Chief Secretary, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) General Manager, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) CEO. Moreover, the Chief Minister lauded the outstanding efforts and unwavering commitment of CRBC and KPEZDMC for their successful completion of Phase I, accomplishing the project six months ahead of the deadline. The first phase of the Rashakai SEZ encompasses 247 acres of modern facilities, designed to attract domestic and foreign investors, fostering economic growth, job creation, and strengthening Sino-Pak cooperation within the CPEC framework. The officials (whose names were not disclosed) emphasized the SEZ’s role as a catalyst for regional prosperity, generating employment opportunities for the local population and promoting foreign direct investment. They disclosed plans for the upcoming second phase, aimed at expanding infrastructure, streamlining business processes, and attracting key industries to unlock the SEZ’s full potential during the ongoing CPEC decade.
