Statistics shared on cement despatches during June 2023

Lahore: The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has shared the statistics on cement despatches for the month of June 2023, according to news published in the national dailies on July 5. Read: APCMA records increase in cement sales in May The association has urged the government to support export-oriented industries in order to revitalize the cement sector’s presence in international markets and help the country overcome its current challenges. The monthly data released by the association reveals a decline in cement despatches during June 2023. The total cement despatches for the month amounted to 4.063 million tons, indicating a 22.80% decrease compared to 5.264 million tons despatched in the same month of the previous fiscal year. Further analysis of the data shows a significant decline in local cement despatches by the industry in June 2023. The local despatches amounted to 3.487 million tons, reflecting a decrease of 29.97% compared to 4.979 million tons in June 2022. However, exports witnessed a notable increase of 102.59%, with volumes rising from 284,471 tons in June 2022 to 576,309 tons in June 2023. In June 2023, cement mills in the northern region dispatched 2.950 million tons, marking a decline of 30.08% compared to the 4.220 million tons dispatched in June 2022. On the other hand, cement mills in the southern region dispatched 1.113 million tons during June 2023, indicating a 6.60% increase compared to the despatches of 1.044 million tons in June 2022. Read: APCMA records lowest dip in cement sales in last 9 months The despatches of cement in domestic markets by the northern mills amounted to 2.855 million tons in June 2023, showing a decline of 30.75% compared to 4.122 million tons despatched in June 2022. Similarly, the southern mills despatched 632,093 tons in local markets during June 2023, reflecting a 26.23% decrease compared to the despatches of 856,863 tons in June 2022. While exports from the northern mills decreased by 1.88%, the quantities reduced from 97,163 tons in June 2022 to 95,333 tons in June 2023.
