RWP admin to revamp Kutchery Chowk project

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi administration has decided to revamp Kutchery chowk project due to security concerns, according to a news published in the national dailies on June 21. Read: GT Road portion connecting Rawat with Kutchery Chowk renamed As per the details, the original plan included the construction of an overhead bridge and an underpass, but these structures have been removed from the project. Initially, the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) was awarded the contract, but the garrison authorities did not approve it. Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha stated that the project will continue with modifications. Instead of constructing the flyover and underpass, the focus will be on widening the roads to improve traffic flow. The signal-free corridor will stretch from Ammar Chowk to Motorway Chowk, and expanding Kutchery Chowk is expected to alleviate traffic congestion. The revised cost of the project was not provided. Additional lanes will be added to the existing tracks, and service roads and footpaths will be constructed. The traffic police have been tasked with creating a plan to ensure minimal disruption to traffic flow during the expansion.
