Chairing a meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Aviation on Monday, he disclosed that even latest machines placed on airports to control drug smuggling can’t ice drugs.
Senator Hidayatullah while commenting on the installation of new scanners at airports and the upgradation of old ones, stated that ice drugs cannot be detected by even the modern machines.
“I don’t know whether ice drug is being imported or exported,” he added.
The airport authorities have informed that CCTV cameras have been installed in response to passengers’ complaints at airports. There have been complaints from passengers regarding harassment by narcotics officials, who force them to pay bribes, and as a result, desperate passengers end up giving bribes for clearance.
