Land use conversion in RDA’s jurisdiction subjected to WASA’s NOC

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has subjected the land-use conversion of residential plots into commercial plots to no-objection certificated from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), according to news published in national dallies on April 12. Read: WASA to start Nullah Leh’s dredging next month As per the details, WASA Rawalpindi has sought details of all the approved commercial building plans and land use conversions from residential to commercial that haven’t been issued WASA’s NOCs and asked defaulters to pay NOC fees, water charges and other payables. It was also reported the RDA has approved building plans for high-rise and commercial buildings falling within the jurisdiction of the authority itself, the Municipal Corporation, and District Council. Read: RDA to take action against illegal housing societies Reportedly, RDA DG Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa has issued a letter to the municipal corporation and district council, stating that owing to the development of commercial high-rises, markets and residential land’s conversion to commercial use without WASA’s NOCs has shrunken the water supply and sewerage network of the agency. He opined that without expanding the capacity of the water and sewerage network, the new developments are straining the existing infrastructure and causing woes for citizens.
