LDA to use CCTV cameras for monitoring development projects

Lahore: Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who is also the director general of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), has ordered the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to monitor the quality and pace of development work in ongoing projects in the city, news sources reported on March 13. Read: LDA auctions off 14 plots, generating over PKR 130 mn Reportedly, the CCTV monitoring will also help minimize the misappropriate use of funds in public projects. In addition to using technology, the LDA will also utilize community participation and feedback to monitor these projects. Earlier on Friday (March 10), the commissioner paid a visit to Samanabad-Gulshan Ravi Underpass, Lahore Bridge and CBD Underpass work site and decided to monitor these projects with IT-based technology. Reportedly, he has directed concerned teams to ask consultants to install cameras at project sites for effective monitoring. The news source also mentioned that he has directed the officers to resolve traffic issues before starting development work on the multi-level flyover in Shahdara.
