The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that a list of all taxpayers who have paid their taxes in full by December 15 will be made available on the FBR tax portal. The list will include the names of salaried individuals who have paid their taxes, businesses that have paid their sales tax, and corporations that have paid their corporate taxes by the deadline or with surcharges.
It is important to note that the FBR issues an Active Taxpayer List (ATL) on March 1 every year, which remains valid until the end of February. According to FBR data, there are currently 4.2 million active taxpayers in the country, resulting in a total tax-to-GDP ratio of 9.32%, which is the lowest in South Asia. However, the government has launched several ‘Tax Asan’ initiatives to encourage more people to enter the tax net.

Furthermore, the government offers higher benefits to taxpayers, including reduced taxes on the sale and purchase of properties, withholding tax, and banking and savings accounts. These initiatives are part of the government’s efforts to increase revenue generation and promote responsible taxation practices. |
