With the most recent announcement, the total funds allocated for the immediate humanitarian assistance programme have increased to AUD 10 million. Hawkins, in a meeting with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik said that the aid will be distributed through United Nations (UN)’s trusted partners and Non-government Organisations (NGOs) to ensure transparency and accountability. The commissioner said that the flood has devastated the livelihoods of millions, and it will take considerable time to rehabilitate them. According to him, the poor will be the priority in the delivery of aid, and the goal is to distribute this donation to those who are in need.
