ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday set up first ever Directorate of Internal Accountability Board (IAB) to keep an eye on conduct of all CDA employees. The board will work directly under this command of CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal. A grade 18 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) Umber Gillani has been appointed as Director of the accountability board. It has seven members including Director General Law Naeem Dar, Director Procurement Syed Miskeen Kazmi, Director Technical Faisal Naeem, Director Security Syed Fatehul Mannan and director Admin Faiz Ahmed Wattoo. A CDA’s document said the board had been constituted on “eliminating corruption and changing public perception towards the authority” and for expeditious disposal of complaints on the charge of inefficiency, misconduct and corruption as well as to ensure transparency in authority’s working. “The internal accountability board is first institution to strengthen internal accountability. It will conduct inquiries when any wrongdoing is reported. The purpose of this board is to bring improvement in CDA’s performance,” the CDA chairman told Dawn. He said he would himself monitor the performance of this board. Asked about already pending inquiries, he said that the IAB will trace and get all pending inquiries completed. “Without speedy justice, punishment and reward system, no organisation can make progress. Therefore, I will fully back this board to bring positive changes,” he said. CDA officials said that security directorate perform superbly during the last few years, pointing out large numbers of fake allotments of plots, etc., and inclusion of director security in IAB is a good step, as he has good command on conducting inquiries.
