CM Sindh approves funding for construction projects

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday (February 6) approved PKR 22 billion for the completion of stalled development work in the province, the news sources reported. Read: Flood victims in Sindh to get compensation from Feb 8 The funds will be used for the completion of 243 development projects that were halted due to devastating floods last year. The decision was made in an overview meeting presided over by CM Murad. The meeting also approved the extension of the scope of the Rapid Response Force (RRF) to all parts of the province and the establishment of a Crowd Management Unit (CMU) for better counterterrorism and security arrangements in the province. The minister also approved PKR 1.1 million for the registration and other related works on 75 acres of land specified for the Hyderabad Press Club. According to government sources, a total of 34 million people are internally displaced, with millions of houses destroyed. The government, in association with non-government organizations (NGOs), has started the rehabilitation process, which includes the construction of new road infrastructure and houses that were damaged by the floods.
