Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday (January 30) issued a notification to switch off half the streetlights on every road in the federal city under the new energy conservation plan, news sources reported.

The measure has been adopted under the ‘Energy Conservation Plan’ formulated by the federal government. However, residential areas with considerable population density will be exempted from the new policy. As per the sources, the CDA has adopted the power conservation policy following the federal government directives to solarise government buildings.

It is important to note that the federal government has asked all ministries and departments to convert their buildings to solar power and move away from fossil fuel-dependent energy sources. |
