KDA issues warning over misuse of residential plots in Clifton

Karachi: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) issued warnings to the owners of residential plots using their properties for commercial activities in Clifton, the news sources reported on February 3. Read: Supreme Court orders demolition of marquees on Korangi Road In a statement issued by the KDA, it was stated that the owners of residential plots where commercial activities are being carried out are issued notices for violating related clauses of lease deeds. As per the authority, around 172 plots have been identified, with commercial activities running on 38 plots in Block 1, 45 plots in Block 2, 23 in Block 4, 37 in Block 5, 10 each in Block 7 and Block 8 and 15 in Block 9. The owners of all plots have been asked to stop commercial activities on the residential plots within seven days and use them only for residential purposes. In addition, the KDA has given a fortnight for the residents of the identified plots to approach the office of the Director of Land with their original documents. Read: ABAD demands one-window operation for issuance of NOCs in Karachi It is important to point out that the Supreme Court had issued notices to the KDA and other civic agencies to act against land grabbers and those violating their agreement deed as per the prescribed master plan of the city. The court had also ordered the authorities to demolish and seal such properties with fines and jail time for violators.
