| Lahore: The Punjab government has released documents for the specification of land use for the planned Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) industrial Estate Project, news sources reported on January 23.

The RUDA industrial Estate includes rehabilitation of the existing industrial area in phase-I, called the Ravi Industrial Zone, spanning 950 acres. As per Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA), the new specifications have been planned to consolidate the land under use and bring the unplanned and scattered industries under one rule. As per the documents, the total area for the industrial complex is 2,200 acres, of which 950 acres are already occupied by industries while a new 1,239 acres has been added for the new industrial complex.

The following provisions have been added to the new RUDA industrial Estate regulatory document:
The new estate is planned to be developed on 691 acres, 55.84% of the total land area of 1,239 acres
Of the 691.89 acres, 592 acres fall within the district boundary of Lahore and 99 acres within Sheikhpura
137 acres have been allocated for park and open spaces
3.88 acres have been allocated for commercial areas

Apartment buildings will be developed on 45 acres, common facilities on 70 acres, a sports complex on 21 acres, and roads on 267 acres
Common facilities include Rescue-1122, a truck terminal, retail shops, mosques, hospitals, grid stations, schools/colleges, etc.
The total infrastructure expenditure will be PKR 30 billion for the entire exercise |
