LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Wednesday launched an anti-encroachment operation to turn nine roads of the city “model roads”.
On the direction of the Lahore High Court, the authority is taking action against the encroachments in parking areas of plazas and also issuing notices to implement building regulations.
During the drive, the encroachments will be removed from Johar Town’s main road, main boulevard of Allama Iqbal Town, Wahadat Road, Multan Road, Zahoor Elahi Road, MM Alam Road, Mustafa Town’s main road, Jubilee Town’s main road, LDA Avenue’s main road, Shadman’s main road, Garden Town’s main road, Kalma Chowk to Faisal Town, Township’s main road and Khokhar Chowk to Hamdard Chowk.
LDA Director General Amir Ahmed Khan said the model roads were being established to overcome environmental pollution and resolving parking issues.
He said to establish nine model roads and implementation of building regulations, notices were issued to administrations of schools, colleges, hospitals, restaurants and other commercial buildings there for removing encroachments.
He said the authority would take across-the-board action against the administrations and owners of the buildings violating the rules.
