Three mini dams of 400 KV capacity inaugurated in KP

Battagram: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Power and Energy Taj Muhammad Khan Trand, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), launched three mini-dams in the districts of Shamlai, Trangar, and Aien, news sources reported. The combined power generating capacity of the three projects is 400-kilovolt (KV), with the individual capacity to generate 250 KV, 150 KV, and 50 KV, respectively.

The project is part of a series of mini-micro hydropower projects planned to be developed in the province to meet the province’s growing need for electricity. The minister also indicated that similar projects will start soon as part of phase-II of the initiative, in which the remaining 22 districts will receive their own mini dams.

Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Project Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Qazi Muhammad Naeem, Hydrolink Engineer CEO Fazal Rabbi, Project Director Mini-micro Hydro project Col (retired) Muhammad Shahid Yousafzai, a member of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) Fawad Dawar, and local elders and notables attended the inauguration ceremony.

The minister asked people to identify more of these locations for small dams’ construction, as it will also help district development through revenue earned from selling excess energy to other districts
